About SoftFooding
SoftFooding was formed in 2007 by a group of familiar faces that have been working for one the UK's largest veterinary practice management software suppliers over the past 3 years.
What Is SoftFooding?
The name SoftFooding stems from the term dogfooding; to eat one’s own dog food. The concept reportedly stemmed from television commercials for Alpo dog food starring Lorne Greene who after touting the benefits of the dog food said it was so good he would feed it to his own.
Dogfooding has become popular within some organisations, with one of the largest supporters being Microsoft. They often begin using their products to run mission-critical systems months before it is released to customers. In fact, this SoftFooding website is run using one of the core modules from BG3.
Why Eat Our Own Dog Food?
There are a number of reasons why using our own products internally is beneficial,
- It shows that we believe in our product
- If there are any flaws or issues in our products it is in our interest to resolve them
- All our staff get to know how our products work, which in turn helps us to support you better
- Using our product internally serves as a reality check:
- is it as good as we believe it is?
- does the product actually work in the same way that we think it does?
- designers are not completely disconnected from end-users
We may find it painful at times, but we believe this philosophy will lead to a better quality product for all.
